Do you have to uninstall an old router before installing a new one.

    What do you mean uninstall? You just unplug it replace it with the new one, then follow whatever set up procedures are required.

    No, none at all. We are talking about a router that is connected either wirelessly or with an Ethernet cable?

    If you used an (unnecessary) installation wizard to help set up the original router, there may be some bloat left behind, but this wouldn't prevent you setting up a new router.
    How do I add a signature?

    Its just a simple process of unplug the old 1 and swap it for the new 1 and swap the power cable over.

    All the ISP account info (username and password) is stored in the router, not the PC.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Depends on the ISp but i presume other ISP's are the same too, i swapped out the modem supplied by VM with the same model albeit 1 i had bought myself and no username/password info was needed to access the internet.

    A modem is not the same as a router (I assume that OP is talking about an ADSL modem/router).
    Technically the cable modem supplied by VM is their property and should not be altered.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
