what are housing costs?

May sound like a daft question but we have been sent another letter asking for our housing costs?

Now does this mean what is our rent? Or other things like food, bills etc.? We are getting full Housing Benefit and Council Tax paid so what do we put in the reply..do they need to know the amout or just that we get it all paid?

Thanks.

    CSA 1 or CSA 2

If CSA 2 then you have no obligation to tell them anything...

If CSA 1 then it is the cost of rent and or mortgage for the home you live in...

It's says CSA 2 on the letter..it's says if we don't reply within 7 days then they will assess that we don't have any housing costs. They're asking for my husbands income from last year 2011 but asking for my income from 2010?

We both were not working at either of those dates then they ask what we were living off.

They have named both our young children I guess they found out about them from DWP they want to know if he is the natural Father which his is.

It is irrelevant for your information, and you have no obligation to give them ANY info of CSA 1 or 2, on 1 they can assume yours on 2 they have no right to it.

It sounds to me there is arrears and they are looking at maxing his payment to 40%.

Is the NRP self employed...? If so then they can ask for backdated info, if not, then send the last 3 months payslips only, i don't believe they can ask back further than that, as no reassessment was requested back then... ;)

He hasn't gone through the CSA in years when he was it was a flat rate £5 but he was sending cash (I know stupid no trace) to the PWC, this was up to recent when I had my second child and her Child Tax credits stopped for her oldest child (not my husband son) Now we think she thinks that she can get a lot more money from us as we get a lot in child tax credits.

No he gets DLA so doesn't work at all. I am a stay at home Mum and get Carers allowance.

I'm also just applied for Income Support as I didn't know that I could get it with Carers Allowance. This is only though recent so we could have 2 years back dated money to pay.

Personally i would send them nothing for you, and if he gets DLA then send proof of that as i believe he will be a NIL assessment.

Yeah NIL assessment for DLA that's what I've read but it's the lower amount care though he gets? Then I've also read that they just don't take DLA into account when doing the assessment.

This is why he paid her direct thinking he would get the NIL or even £5 assessment he's a decent NRP, now though thinks we have made a massive mistake and worried sick we will get a bill for thousands :-(

2 years at £5 a week is £500 so don't see how it could be more...

That's what you get for being helpful though...!

I meant if they accounted all our income ie child tax credits, my carers allowance etc.

He is very careful with money (tight..lol) but has been putting a little bit away each week so we won't go under if/when we get a bill.

I've also just read that child tax credits are only taken into account if the NRP is working otherwise it will be a flate of £5. Which is her loss as he was paying more then that in cash every month.

Personally I'd ring them an ask what the hell is going on, explain everything, ask why they have asked for this information if your on CSA2 (as is not tto pursaken into consideration)!

Don't bury yor head in the sand beause unless you contact them to sort things out they may well continue to pursue things wrongly!!

I'll get hubby to on Monday. I've just looked again at the form and thought should I just put 'not working' for me as it asks for my details this is true as I've not worked since 2008 since I've had both my children..I thought just to leave it blank but then they could think I was working and ask for more details? He wants it sorting as do I.

I've read yet again on another forum that if NRP or NRPP isn't working then the Child Tax Credits aren't taken into account and it's a flat rate of £5.
