well i don't know whether there are studies on the cramping etc - but from my personal experience i really don't notice my periods any more - and that includes my first couple after giving birth which were mega
it is fiddly to put in at first - bit like when you first try using tampons really - but you soon get the hang of it:rotfl:five children? I must be mad........ :rotfl:

ashmit wrote:It's not really that difficult, just a bit fiddly as swampytiggaa says. There are various tips to make it easier. The main one is don't get too stressed, if it helps have a glass of wine first and have a giggle about the whole thing to your OH or best friend! I find it's easier to put in wet, but a ton of KJ jelly also helps (at one point I got stressed and couldn't put mine in after being able to use it properly for four years, and KY jelly helped). As far as angles go, it's the same as putting in tampons in that either sitting on the side of the bath or on the loo helps - just experiment and see what's easiest for you. And also, like a tampon, if you can feel it it's not in properly.

If you need to use the KY jelly remember to put it on YOU not the Mooncup or you'll be like me the first time I used it in the loo at work & had the oh-so-slippery mooncup go flying out of my fingers & bouncing around the cubicle like a posessed yo-yo:DPost Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

Hi,
Thanks for this thread, guys. I had heard of the mooncup, but haven't been tempted until now.
Presumably you can wear it at night?
TIA

No problems at night, that's the only time I wore it until I got used to it during the first cycle;)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

(serious face) I just put it round the rim and kept hold lower down so I didn't have that problem.
(loses serious face) THAT'S HILARIOUS!!!! I have such a funny mental image now of a mooncup like a rubber ball bouncing round and round a toilet cubicle, just out of reach... I'm sorry, I'm just very easily amused!!!!! ;D0 -
Just ordered my Mooncup! I'd heard of the Keeper before but £30 seemed a lot of money - I think I can stretch to £18 though.
Some of the testimonials on the Mooncup website make quite amusing reading - using the blood as garden fertilizer is all very well but I think I'd stop short of using it in paintings!0 -
Apparently the Mooncup is now available in the larger stores of Boots although I've not seen it yet.0

After reading about the moon cup here I bought one. It's fantastic, bit fiddly to start but now I've got the hang of it brilliant. I'll never use anything else. I would highly recommend it. Thank you all.Happy to be here.:D :hello:0

I'd never heard of this ever before today and was only attracted to this thread by what I thought might be moneysaving tips on bulk buying of tampons or pads!!!
I've read all the posts and am tempted to try this little gem but although you have all reassured me that a little practice will show me that it's easy to insert no one has addressed my worry which is how to remove it without squeezing the contents all over me, or the floor for that matter. Any tips???This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
