Item Sold - Payment Question

Hi All,
Quick question please. I have sold an item on Ebay and the lady has messaged me this morning to say that she is having trouble completing the payment as she keeps getting an error message. She has reported this to Ebay and is waiting for a response.
I have offered the chance to pay by cheque or postal order (which I would prefer not to be honest due to the timescales and could do with the money!) and she has said she is happy to send a cheque but due to postal/clearing times would I be happy to provide bank details so she can make a instant transfer.
Question is, is this safe? I appreciate that it might sound a bit dodgy so wanted to check that if I were to provide my account number and sort code is this giving some possible fraudster access to my account in anyway or is it perfectly safe?

Bank payments are wonderful, let it clear overnight on the day you receive it an dpost next day. It cannot be recalled and assuming you are both in the UK there are no fees.

Ah Soolin thank you so much for your quick reply. I was hoping it would be ok as like you say it also saves on fees! And I get the money straight away which to be honest I could really do with right now!

That'd be good! Off on holiday next week and then moving house at the weekend so every penny helps, especially with two 10 month olds!! Don't tend to do things by halves if I'm honest! Thanks so much.0
