Phone shop stole my sd card!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok so about half an hour ago I went to pick my phone up from the shop after getting it repaired. When I got there, the phone wasn't quite ready so as I was waiting I noticed a sign saying 'please remove sim and memory card, we won't be responsible if it get's lost (stolen)' I DID NOT notice this sign when I dropped off my phone and they did not vocalize this to me...what if a customer couldn't read?
When I got home and opened it up, I noticed the sd card is missing!
The shop is now shut until tomorrow morning.
Where do I stand on this?

They aren't going to take responsibility for it; having said that I do think they should have advised you to remove and retain the SD card when you dropped the phone in for repair.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Well if they've lost it they should be liable to replace it.
However, it may not be as simple as that if they turn round and say you never gave it to them. And with the lack of any kind of evidence you may struggle to pursue it.0 -

I think you stand very aware that if you ever need to get your phone repaired again you need to make sure you don't rush in and put your property at risk of being lost. I am sure the shop will confirm my suspicions when they point out their sign and advise that they cannot be responsible for you not reading the sign.
Phone shop stole my sd card!!!!!!!!!!!! should perhaps be editedJohn0 -
Before I even opened the thread from the title I was thinking usually there are signs when in phone stores requesting you only send the phone in for repair. Its pretty standard as you've stated yourself OP the sign was there.
I'm not totally sure if as you read the sign whilst waiting to collect the phone why you did not check it before leaving the store. I think that would have been the only possible opportunity to really claim they have lost your SD card.0 -
How many people do you know who have a mobile phone but can't read???"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

2.
A local gypsy family, neither he nor his wife can read or write yet both have mobiles. But then again, you don't need to be able to read to press a big green answer button do you? Or to press the number keys for speed dial. You remember the locations.0 -

I hope they're not allowed to drive0 -
As it was in a mobile phone, am I correct in assuming that it was a micro sd card?
If so and the shop won't replace it willingly, I don't think it will be be worth getting too stressed and wound up about it as these cards have dropped a fair bit in price in the past year or so.
If you buy from somewhere like Amazon, you can get a 4GB Kingston one for about £4 delivered or a Sandisc 16GB for less than £7.0 -
The hysterical headline doesn't help.
Maybe the shop took the SD card out to facilitate the repair and forgot to put it back in?The man without a signature.0 -

Take it out to facilitate the repair? What planet are you on, as if that is even a possibility.
No, no, no. They stole it, they must have. They steal them because they have a nice little side line in used SD cards (that you can buy new for a couple of quid). And then, I bet, they sell the data on it too. It's the only logical explanation.(because there's bound to be someone who thinks I'm being serious)
