White patches on acer

We have an acer tree which has developed white patches on the tree bark, the leaves seem to have dropped early this year too.any ideas please
my bark is worse than my bite!!!!!!!!

Comments

  • white patches on bark could be slug.snail damage - we had a lot on a young cherry tree and found them all up the trunk at night

May have dropped due to weather, one of mine had dried out without my realising the soil was not retaining water due to ants turning it to dust

There is a recent thread with a few acer tips if you fancy looking back at it
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow
  • My first thought was scale.
However there is a very useful thread here...

A lot of suggestions about white patches, including scale insects, mealy bug and early leaf drop due to waterlogging....got to be something helpful on Acers there!
