Hmm so I presume you are above the status of a 'pleb'. Well sorry my friend I would rather steer clear then.
As for Gideon do you really think this was the first time he tried to get away with travelling first class with a standard class ticket?
And how come there are so many jumping on this 'reverse snobbery' bandwagon b*llsh*t- hardly original is it? Looks like intelligence is not a prerequisite for membership of whatever class lies above pleb status then(especially if it includes those Einsteins - Osbourne and Mitchell)

Yes - and I find it rather bizarre so many people like calling themselves plebs...

If you listen to the ACTUAL staff involved instead of a gossiping journalist in the next carriage who couldn't care less about fact - you would have realised that he didn't try and get away with sitting in 1st class with a standard ticket this time - let alone assuming he does it all the time.

So if an argument isn't original, it cannot be used and the person who used it is therefore thick? What on earth does that make you with your stupid "Gideon" comments?

And who said I was in whatever class those are in? Unlike snobs like you, I don't subscribe to a system of class. There is far too much discrimination and hatred in this world as it is without people like you trying to spread even more...

So given that that is exactly what virgin trains said happened, who are we to believe? The train manager / virgin trains / george osborne, or a TV reporter who wasn't actually there?

I do not think that my version is inconsistent with Virgin's. The first draft probably looked like this:
"Rt Hon George Osborne, chancellor, was travelling on Virgin Trains' 15.11 Wilmslow to London Euston service this afternoon (October 19).The chancellor, who was travelling in first-class accommodation, held a standard-class ticket. As soon as the train left Wilmslow, a pretty aide went to find the train manager to explain the situation. She said " Surely you do not expect George to travel second class. He is the Chancellor of the Exchequor you know". The train manager said there were no exceptions for second class ticket holders. The aide said that most train managers were more understanding but arranged to pay for an upgrade. It was agreed that the chancellor would remain in first class and an amount of £189.50 was paid by the aide to cover the upgrade for Mr Osborne and his PA. The situation was dealt with amicably between the train manager and George Osborne's aide. At no time was there a disagreement or a refusal to pay for the upgrade. Nor was there any discussion between the train manager and Mr Osborne."

before the red bit was deleted:)
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

That persistent whine? It's the sound of all the old Labour hacks grinding their paper-thin class war axes as they've done for 100 years.

Do try to get over the 19th century stereotypes. There is plenty of substantial and valid criticism to be made of this terrible government. You demean yourselves with this asinine 'Gideon' and 'toffs' nonsense - like a troupe of dim parrots spouting whatever soundbites are put in your beaks by the spin doctors.
