Hi.
Hubby had a new clutch put in by Mr Clutch and exactly one week later he started having problems with it it was really heavy all of a sudden. He went back to Mr Clutch and they said he needs another new part-Clutch master cylinder.
So we ordered that from the main dealer and got Mr clutch to fix it. There was no change in the car still heavy. Then they said it must be the gear box. They said if its still like that in a few days then its definitely the gear box. Hubby didnt believe it for a second and went and showed it to a local mechanic that he knows. He said its not the gearbox but something else-which was Mr Clutches mistake on the original repair.(I cant remember what it was). He told my hubby exactly what he thought the problem was.
Anyway now in order to repair it Mr Clutch would charge another £300 odd. Surely they shouldnt charge us for something under warranty and what should we do from here. Have they made us get a Clutch master cylinder done for no reason?
Its just about cleaned us out plus he needs his car for work.
TIA

I can see two errors on your part
1) why go to mr clutch when you have a mechanic?
the are clutch specialists, old clutch out new clutch in all day long most dont even know how a clutch functions.where as your mechanic would be more experienced in more then just clutches
2) why on earth did you buy the part from main dealer?
you can get the same part from eurocarparts or gsf for much much less only difference is the box it comes in
get a quote from your mechanic with an explanation on what wrong, if it is some thing caused by the clutch change go to mr clutch and request that they pay for the mechanic to rectify considering that they already had an attempt at rectifying the problem which resulted you paying for a master cylinder.0 -
I had my clutch replaced (Suzuki Swift) and attended the 3 clutch inspections (even though it is hydrolic clutch.)
On the 3rd inspection I told them the bite point was high - they told me that it was my fault etc.
I had a Suzuki main dealer inspect & replace the clutch & then took Mr Clutch to the small claims court. Before the court date Mr Clutch paid out "to avoid the hassle of having to attend court"
I am happy to advise anyone to avoid Mr Clutch and would suggest using Google (I wish I did before using them).
Hope this helps someone else.0 -

It seemed cheaper to get done from Mr Clutch cos the parts alone were going to be more than the whole job in Mr clutch. The clutch kit and the flywheel is what we were told we needed. Well big mistake we know now. The second part (clutch master cylinder) we were told we couldnt get from anywhere other than the Toyota dealer thats why we got it from there.0 -
There is a reason why they are cheaper for parts and labour, Compared to the price you can buy the parts for.
The parts are cheap JUNK.
Mate called me his brothers mini had a new clutch recently (old mini) But now wont go into gear.
He contact them and they said its movement in the crank. Stopping it going into gear.
I had to laugh. I stripped the cover off and found the clutch lining in several pieces, All jammed up at the bottom which prevented the clutch from releasing.
The material was thin and useless. A cornflake box would have done a better job.

Many years ago, took my company car into have the clutch replaced, boss paid with a cheque that bounced.
The Mr Clutch manager was incredibly threatening on the phone which put my bosses back up. He was a bare knuckle fighter and director of a firm supplying close protection and bouncers. So he told the manager he would have to wait for the money too which the manager threatened to petrol bomb his house which resulted in him being told he would not get the money.
I was taken to county court which was thrown out as it should have been made out to my employer.
Apparently Mr Clutch made the managers responsible for bounced cheques which had made him desperate.0 -
