And if they wanted the game collected within a certain period they should have specified! It's not ops fault they've gone and moved the goal posts.
Collecting within 7 days isn't unreasonable.
If ops friend went to the effort of pre-ordering, then she's hardly to blame if somebody else basically whinging it and hoping they have stock left doesn't get a copy!
In fact, maybe it's the shops fault for not ordering enough? Or the manufacturers fault for not releasing enough?
As Techead says "Pre-ordering is normally about making sure of collection/delivery on day of release. It's not really a reservation system."
Everyone I have known who has reserve an item such as a video game, do so because they want it on the day of release or at least the next day the shop is open.
I would imagine that the general T&C for pre-ordering/reservation/collection will cover the shop and of course if you pre-order/reserve for collection, you are bound by those terms.
Absolutely no point in pre-ordering/reserving something as common as a video game, if you are not going to pick the item up for a week. 7 days reasonable:rotfl:0 -
Pre- ordering is normally about making sure of collection/ delivery on day of release. It's not really a reservation system. So I can see the store's point. To me this seems like a misunderstanding of the purpose of pre- ordering.
At the risk of upsetting people, it is only a game and if you can wait to pay day then just use the credit off it. It's not really worth the stress and effort of arguing over a pre- order.
I disagree with this, yes some people pre-order to get something on the release date but Skylanders was the must have game last year and it looks like it will be this year. They sold out completely quite early last year leaving lots of people unable to get one for Xmas.
In this instance pre-ordering has been used as a way of securing the item but not necessarily on the release date, as it's a child's game I'd imagine more people are buying them ready for Xmas than to be played now anyway, not like the latest release of COD where adults plan on a game marathon on the release date.
If OP's friend has paid a pre-order deposit then that item should be put to one side until she is ready to collect, that is the whole point of a paid pre-order, the item has already been part paid for. Also 48 hours is not long enough, what if someone happens to be away this week and not even in the country for the release date? If it was advertised as 48 hour pick up when the deposit was taken then fine but it can't be added/changed now when it's too late to do anything about it.0 -

You would be surprised how often I have seen kids at midnight releases - which have always been on a school night to my recollection. Kids as young as 8 have been there all excited to get "their game".....which mostly are 18+! And while the stores open at midnight, its usually at least 1am by the time you get home. Indeed on a few occasions there have been payment problems and its been 3-4am and kids were behind us in the queue!
My parents would have never let me stay awake till early hours in the morning on a school night - regardless of circumstances.
Okay sorry, thats my rant of disbelief overYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
