Service Gas Pressure too low due to plastic pipe replacement
Comments

Well I haven't been given a reason for the missed appointment but apparently it will be addressed by a resource manager on Monday. So we'll see if someone bothers to call. Don't know what I'm supposed to do now that I have no leave left to use for this. The boiler is presently illegal.
In retrospect I don't think the pressure was right even with the old boiler as the hob used to reduce when the boiler lit. I don't think they can have properly tested it when they put in this plastic pipe.
Still it is clearly their responsibility to fix - another example of cost cutting measures coming back to bite.0 -
So if your gas pipe connection looks like this be aware of potential issues before ordering a Combi boiler!

Your picture doesnt make sense, where is your main tap?
The real problem is not the insertion of the new pipe its the way networks run now.Networks run on the lowest possible pressure they can because they save a fortune on lost gas that otherwise occurs.Rerunning the odd supply because of problems like what you have is small fry compared to what they are saving. When the whole network is p.e. then there will be no problems.Im sorry but thats just the way it is.

#post 13..the picture has no relevance to the problem. The real answer to this issue is to fit guage to ecv,fit guage to meter outlet, confirm meter is able to supply the connected load in terms of volume. Measure standing pressure on service. Run boiler on hot water, measure working pressure on service and meter outlet. Draw conclusions.
Fact is that most network operators will be happy to leave your supply with a working pressure of 1600 Pascals.
People are putting in bigger and bigger combis and no one is paying network operators to put in bigger and bigger pipes/mains/network equipment so sooner or later, you end up with areas of reduced pressure and your nice expensive combi will not operate at full output.
It is rather curious that combis, which are sold as highly efficient and cost saving (rubbish) consume gross inputs of 40Kw and up and yet my lovely system boiler only consumes a max of around 12Kw for the same net result or,in my opinion,a much better result in terms of boiler durability, water volume and water flow.
I would strongly suggest to anyone considering a boiler change/new system to think about a decent storage system and not a combi.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
