Unfortunately the tps dosn't stop all the silent calls. Extremely annoying to come in from a long way away to find a blank phone and 'You were called'.
P.S. How do you stop unwanted fax calls, we hav'nt had a fax for 3 years but still get them.

I had a similar junk fax problem as I needed the machine occasionally, but had to switch it over to receive faxes. If I left it on fax overnight there would be mountains of c**p offers to greet me in the morning.

There is a similar website to the tps, the Fax Preference Service, which solved the majority of the junk faxes.... but not all.

    Hope this helps
    I came, I saw, I did a little browsing.

I thought you could report companies for canvassing when you have n/c on the ad. I work for a local newspaper and we are not allowed to canvass customers who have n/c on their ads....I thought the company could get fined for doing so. I have had n/c on ads before when I have been selling bits and before I even enter into conversation, I ask for their name, the name of their company and their telephone number (phone sometimes gets slammed down by this time), and then say I will report them as the ad showed n/c and we are registered with tps. You won't get called again from them!! One of my husbands friends had a call asking if he wanted new windows (said no) new doors (said no) and asked if he'd thought about having a conservatory (said that hadnt even entered his head and would they mind popping round to give a quote)...they did just that......he lives in a block of flats on the 1st floor!
  • I just been called by vehicle first didnt find anything about them being a scam except for post#9, asking for 14.99 or 15.99 cant remember now, the website looks quite legit, but ive been scammed before so I just thought Id stay away.
