My Mum is poorly and is housebound she is 71 and my Dad is 70 he cares for her does all the cooking, cleaning, shopping ect I do try to help out but I have young children and work myself.
I was just wondering if we could get any help from anywhere ? my dad has a private pension and my Mum get's a small state pension they have never claimed anything in there lives and I do wish I could help more with my time because although my Dad never moan's I feel so sorry for him and It's taking a strain on him

If your mother has care needs, she might be able to claim Attendance Allowance.0
-
You need to look at the following:
First of all, Pension credit (any amount awarded would entitle them to HB/Housing costs)
If not entitled then
Council Tax Benefit and apply for
Attendance Allowance (not means tested). If awarded then Carer's Allowance, although I believe this is an overlapping benefit and cannot be awarded without an effect on other benefits - the Pension saervice will tell you.
You can google all these yourself or you can ask for a welfare and benefits advisor for help either from the Pension Service or your local CAB.
And/or you can put all their details into www.turn2us.org.uk to find out an approximation of their possible entitlements.
Depending on your mum's care needs you can also ask for an assessment for your mum from your local adult social services. They may be able to provide some local services and any aids to make your mum's (and dad's life easier)0 -
contact social services and ask fpr an adult care assessment.
they will asssess your parents needs and may put a care package in place0 -
Presumably Dad also gets a state pension?

Hi Jopsey, does your dad or mum served in the military before? If yes, contact SSAFA Forces Help who may be able to offer a little help.0
