I have just got myself a Samsung DVD-V5600 combo, which consists of a VCR recorder and a DVD player. I got it cos my old VCR stopped working.
Unfortunately, whenever I play a tape or a DVD, I don't get any sound on the TV. I have tried many permutations of the Audio settings, which consists of Dolby Digital Out (either PCM or Bitstream), MPEG-2 Digital Out (either PCM or Bitstream), DTS (either On or Off), Dynamic Compression (either On or Off), and PCM sampling (either On or Off). However, I haven't got the sound to work.
For info, I have an old CRT TV and Sky+HD connected to the TV, which works fine without any probs.
Can anyone please help ?
Please note that I was given the combo by someone at work, who said it worked fine on his TV.
Many thanks

It is just connected to the TV via a scart cable. It is not connected to the Sky + box.
Forgot to mention in my OP that I do get a picture on my TV with both DVD and VCR. I just don't get any sound.:)Have a beer! :beer:0 -
Most of the sound settings you've been messing with will be for the digital audio out connector, not the SCART sockets
Check the SCART lead is fully inserted at both ends. Check also that the SCART is in the bottom (AV1) SCART socket on the combo box.
Has this SCART lead worked successfully in the past? Do you know for certain that it's fully wired for video and audio? How do I add a signature?0 -
Just a quick update.
I have now got it working. I saw that the scart cable that I was using to connect the combo to the TV was different to the one that was being used to connect my DVD player to the TV. So after replacing it with this scart cable, the DVD combo worked fine. I don't need my old DVD player so it was an ideal solution. It has also fixed a problem with my TV, where I was getting gentle banging noises coming out of one of the speakers. Was going to get a new TV in the Xmas sales but don't need to bother now. Don't undertsand why this has fixed the prob buy hey so wot !
For info, the old scart cable was like black wires laced together across the width of the scart plugs at the end of the cable. Worked fine with my old VCR. The new scart is like a proper wrapped wire connection.
Really pleased and thanks for the help everyone.:j:):j:)Have a beer! :beer:0
