Quick question!
Stupidly in debt so seeking debt management advice, advised to open new bank account and cancel debit card so payday companies can't withdraw out cash whilst I'm seeking advice.
Debit card cancelled however monies have still been taken from account - how can this be when card is cancelled?
The bank had been informed also that no funds we're to be taken from account I.e. direct debits etc cancelled but now I'm down by £501.00 please advise as I'm thinking the bank haven't carried out my instructions.

Cancelling a debit card doesn't mean that payments can't be claimed from your account. Did you speak to the Payday loan company before cancelling your card ?0
-
How can a transactions be made on a cancelled card though ?0
-
Even though the bank were informed not to allow any funds to leave the account?
Is there anything that can be done about this now?0 -
If you told the bank the card was lost, this would not have happened as all transaction on the card number would cease. The customer loses control when handing over any card number. You can argue with the bank that the debit should not have been made, and they may agree to it - but it is not certain. Irrespective of this, your credit file might have been additionally damaged if they (PDL) did not get paid.0

I informed the bank the card was lost which led me to believe that no transactions could be made on it. My credit file unfortunately is damaged as it is hence taking steps to get help.0

It's not really much use stopping a card in the hope that a payday loan company won't claim their money. You didn't answer my previous question about whether you've advised the payday loan company that you can't pay them ?0

Unfortunately I didn't advise them of my change in circumstances,0

Obviously not as they have cleared me out!
All I need to know is should my bank of authorised these transactions after they we're instructed not to and after the card reported lost.
The impression I'm getting reading the fsa website is that they shouldn't of?!?0
