CD thinks it is something else!

Options
I have a new copy of Now 66 (OK it is my son's really :o ) but when I tried to rip it to me PC it came up with a different title, artist and track listing. Apparently it thinks it is by Princess Superstar (Who?). The tracks have copied OK to my PC but it is annoying that it doesn't have the correct titles and artist for each of them. Disk 2 was OK but Disk 1 isn't.

Does anyone know if I can change the artist & album name? I can change the track names but the artists are wrong.

Thanks

You haven't said what you're ripping it to/with.

Ripping programs use on-line databases like CDDB to recognise CDs. The ripping program you are using must be using a database with the wrong data entered for that album. There are a few options. You can re-rip with the same program if the program settings allow you to change databases, you can rerip with another program which uses a different database or you can edit the tags on the existing rip using something like MP3Tag. Thinking about it, your ripping program might let you edit the ID3 tags.

My copy does the same. Disk 1 Princess something or other but then 2 was ok.

At 1st i thought it must have been too new to be on the system but obviously not when Disk 2 was ok.

I had to retype the song titles for now.

Thanks for your replies. I'm ripping it to my hard drive using Windows Media player. I'll have a go at editing the ID tags but if I can't I'll just change the song titles.

Have a go at using CDex, read a bit about it, turn the settings up and it will give you much higher quality rips than WMP.
