HSBC / First Direct websites down

Just in case anyone else has been having access problems since yesterday evening, it looks like they have been subjected to a DOS (denial of service) attack.

You Tube also went down for a short time last night at the same time as the other two sites. I thought the internet had broken.

First Direct still not working. First problem I've ever had with them in 20+ years - I do hope this isn't an indication of cost cutting on their part.
  • First poster has probably got this right, they are under attack from hackers.

Funny as I got on to FD last night from the icon on my laptop but AVG sent me a warning notice to say that the site wasn't safe. I ignored it as I didn't think there would be a problem with FD's site. AVG's warnings have sometimes seemed overcautious. Have just logged in again now with no problem.

It was the only relevant title that came up.
Surely it is now a current thread?
