Insurance Claim

Hi, does anybody know if I can claim on my contents insurance for a damaged sofa? I have an iron mark on my leather sofa, did it earlier today, it was an accident obviously! I do have accidental damage cover, but don't want to ring them if they can't help, as it will get recorded wont if, as a claim (had this earlier this year, when I dropped my iPhone and the screen smashed, but I decided to fix it away from the insurance).

Thanks guys

Find out the cost to repair this then decide which route is the most cost effective.

If a claim is worthwhile then that is the time to make contact with your insurers.

Check what your excess fee is. It may not be worth claiming if you have a high excess.

Did you claim on the insurance for the iphone?

Be aware that 2 accidental damage claims within 12 months will have a significant impact on next years price. If you want to get an idea of how that would affect you, get a few "fake" online quotes.

If you do want to proceed with the claim, you would be covered for scorching / burns as you have accidental damage on your contents.

Be aware that many policies only cover replacement of the damaged item (if they cannot repair it), not matched sets. So if they decide to replace the sofa you may end up with one slightly different to any matching chairs - check your policy book.
