Wasn't there a Bongo variant called "Luxury Joyful Canopy"?
    Can I help?

If Vauxhall are setting a trend to name cars after the founder of the company, I am greatly saddened that BL are no longer with us. Never will we see an Austin Herbert.

Apparently the name Corsa came about when they wanted to market its predecessor the Nova in Spain. 'No Va' = 'Doesn't Go'.

Yup, I think this is the winner -- the Vauxhall Nova.

Can't think of any other car whose name means "doesn't go" or anything similar -- the ultimate stinker of a name, and the charvers were all going around in the rancid little rotboxes as well. Puts all these mildly-amusing Japanese names into their proper perspective.

No Va can also be translated as "will not" in Spanish.

I still think that Pajero is the best Spanish-language one, since it often describes the drivers of said vehicle quite well.
  • Worst one I ever actually saw on the road was a Seat Impact.

Jase - I disagree, I think MR2, in French sounding a lot like Merde (Google translate will help I hope) is worse. Toyota #*%$ is a much worse name!
Celica - what's wrong with that?!
I think you're cheating having all these JDM cars though, their customers don't think they're daft names and we were never meant to know them.
Ford ka for me - everyone has adapted now but it was a daft name (which doesn't work here in NI where we actually pronounce our 'R's!
  • the Mitsubishi Carisma - made me laugh.
    Daihatsu Applause from the 80's.

Like Porsche would name their latest model Porsche Ferdinand. Or how about the latest Mercedes Karl?

Funnily enough, the Mercedes was named after his daughter who was called Mercedes :D
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?

The Rolls Royce Silver Shadow was originally going to be called the Silver Mist until it was realised that Mist meant manure in German.

Have to agree about the Ford Ka, I once spent about ten minutes on the phone to a lady working at a Ford garage trying to find out what model courtesy car I would get before the penny finally dropped.
