Light Fitting Blew - would like to repair/buy new internal

We have a light fitting like this (we didn't pay that much for it!!):
http://www.castlegatelights.co.uk/lighting-type-c16/eglo-lighting-jerez-12-light-ceiling-pendant-in-polished-chrome-finish-p14473
The electrician of all people managed to blow it by connecting it up to a dimmer. I love this lamp and from my simplistic abbnafc point of view it seems that the expensive bit is all the fancy chrome that's all still intact and the internal bits and bobs are fairly standard and relatively inexpensive so I'm hoping we can repair or replace them.
My OH has found the bit inside that has gone but isn't sure where to source it. In the meantime I wondered whether we are likely to be able to buy a complete replacement [hope this is the correct word] circuit type internal workings thingy.
Any ideas?

Take the thingy along to your local independent electrical supplier and see what he can do for you.abankerbutnotafatcat wrote: »My OH has found the bit inside that has gone but isn't sure where to source it. BTW if the sparky blew it up either through ignorance or incompetance why isn't he dealing with the problem at his cost?

I am assuming the 'circuit type internal workings thingy' is in the pendant base (the bit at the top of the light fitting) and this is the lighting transformer which converts the incoming 230V to 12V to run the halogen capsule bulbs.
Interestingly, the fitting is dimmable so you're probably just unlucky it blew.
You'll need to replace the transformer with something like this

But you will need at least a 250W version - and you'll need to check dimensions and voltages.0 -

Thank you for your help, i'm starting to feel a bit more positive about the propects of getting my lovely light working again.
Keystone: possibly but the electrician is such a good bloke and has not charged us full rate for all the work we've needed for him to do since the lights went out 3 weeks after we moved in last year so we're not making an issue of it.
Dave: although it looks exactly the same as the one in the link, we bought ours in Denmark and i'm not sure if the specs are the same. It worked fine on a dimmer in Denmark but when we tried it on one in the UK it buzzed and flickered so we bought an IQ dimmer and that blew so then we just used a normal switch. We told the electrician the history and (obviously incorrectly) assumed that he'd understand the situation...0 -
In Denmark the volts are supplied at 220 - 230. Despite the harmonisation nonsese generated by Brussells (really no more than a paper exercise) UK volts are still at 240 +/- 10%. Thats probably the root cause. Its a mistake to think that everything across Europe is 230V now. It isn't.
I think you are being generous but then again so is he. Happy campers all round then.

Keystone: thanks for that info, I was wondering if it could be something like that.
Would this be ok, i've measured and it's the same size (our current one is German going by the writing)? And does anyone know of a cheaper one (although compared with the cost of the lamp it's a bargain!!).
