Will a balance transfer take the most expensive debt?

Hopefully an easy one,
I have a card made up of approx 500 @ 0% (Previous BT offer) and another 500 @ c20% (Purchases)
If I was to arrange a BT out of that card to another, would they take the 20% amount first?
I know when you pay 'cash', they have to pay the highest first now, but wasn't sure if the same were true for balance transfers!
thank you!

Yes it will, as long as both balances have appeared on a statement.
A few cards will always allocate payments to statemented balances first, even if a more recent transaction has a higher rate, which is not really playing fair IMO, but most cards will apply it to the highest rate anyway. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Great, thank you - yes, the 'spending' part (20%) has been there a couple of months0
