Hi Guys,
Wondered if anyone has any advice on credit cards and my credit report.
I thought I had paid my credit card this month and was all up to date but it turns out I was £1 off!!! and as result my credit score has gone from excellent to poor! has anyone been in a similar situation before or have anyadvice for what to say to Tesco if I call them?
I've always been a good customer but for the sake of £1 I really want to try and get this off my report!
Cheers,
Rob

When you say you were 1 pound off, are you saying you paid 1 pound less than the bill, or 1 pound less than the balance?
If the bill wasn't paid in full, just pay it off - It shouldn't hamper your rating too much in the long term (ignore the CR's 'score' - it's meaningless & designed to get you to pay for their 'service' for longer).
Speaking to Tesco, they might even reverse any charge / update your profile accordingly.
If you were just 1 pound off your balance, that itself won't have had any real impact on your score - it could be a sign of something else though, so go through your profile in detail.0 -
if its only 1 payment late, dont worry you could ask them but they dint have toDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Do you mean £1 less than the min payment or £1 less than the balance.
Try talking nicely to Tescos.
Setting up a DD for the min amount or full amount so this doesn't happen again.
Also ignore what any credit score says, it's made up by a company to sell you something. It has no meaning beyond making a profit for them.0 -
Sorry to clarify £1 less than the minimum payment0

I'm surprised that a minor default this month would have already damaged your credit score to such an extent.
I would suggest that there is something else affecting it and you need to look more closely at the details of the report to see what it is.0 -
Credit report going from excellent to poor because of £1 shortfall? I don't think so!! Hope you didn't pay to get this "report"..
Call Tesco and speak nicely to them and pay the quid.0 -

Or that £1 did cause the drop and it's just yet more proof that credit scores mean virtually nothing. From £8,800 to £2,200 in 2 years.
Nearly there, just the 0% credit card to go!0 -
Credit scores or the Emperors new clothes? Grrrr......
Try to pay back more than the minimum or you'll be paying toward the wife's dividend payouts forever with that Tesco card
