They seem to be a bit hit & miss.
Does anybody have any recommendations?

I've heard a few people suggest flashing bands designed for pedestrians/runners instead. Often velcro so fully adjustable, and cheaper than the doggy equivelant.0

I had one but as wombles fur is so thick you couldn't see it so it was a waste of money!!!0

Same issue here with my previous GSD and current one. One tip I heard was to put a dog coat on, then use a harness over the top of the coat and attach the flashing lights to the harness. Keeps the light out of the fur that way, and you can use a lightweight hi-viz coat so dog doesn't get too warm and gets a bit of extra visibility.0 -

Same problem. I did have one of those flashing blinker things, which worked quite well - if his head was pointing in my direction, not quite so well when it was his rear end! :rotfl:Never look down on anybody unless you are helping them up.0 -
I got one from pets at home which was about £8 and works well when I run on the beachYear 2019 (1,700/£17000mortgage repayment)Overall mortgage (71,400/165568) (44

I've also got one of those clip on blinkers for a few pound off ebay after someone on a bike nearly ran over my dog on the pavement the other night. He is a black dachshund and quite hard to see in the dark. I've attached it to his lead when it meets the harness and it works quite well and is worth it if you can take people laughing and pointing occassionally!

I noticed Zooplus do neon hi-viz extendible leads too so will order one of those next time i have to get something. Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again. - C.S. Lewis0 -
I'm a big fan of hi-vis jackets for humans and dogs, much more effective for a car driver to see than a small flashing collar.0

I got little bone shaped ones from the pound shop, with two high visibility flashing red lights in each.
They clip on the dogs' collars and I always use them when out with the dogs after dark.0 -
