Will Energy companies really give you the best deal?

I think you are making the mistake of believing what Call Me Dave says.

Apparently the energy companies are going to have to start putting customers on the cheapest tariff possible - does anyone know how this might work in practice?
No, no one at all ...

The practice will work in such a way as to maintain or increase the energy companies profits.0

Also I hate the way that I get a lower unit rate the more that I use - whilst I appreciate that sometimes the standard charge is added to the lower spectrum of units if the government really had a green agenda they would make companies charge less per unit the less that you use!!0

Yes it will be easy, all the companies will massively increase the price of their cheapest tariffs and offer one or possibly two different options of fixed or variable.
Basically at the moment customers who don't know or care about the cost of their energy subsidise those who do, but because the few whinge so much about every increase the end result will be a levelling out of cost so those who don't care will end up paying much less while those who struggle will be paying more.0
