How can we get the housing market moving?

Up until Labours new tighter FSA rules, yes, a 58 yo divorcee could easily secure a 25 yr mortgage, or an int only to say age 70.
Again the vast majoirty of adults managed thier afairs perfectly well - do you get this point that people manage thier affairs in the main perfectly sensibly and do not need a nanny state tsking in the corner?
If you disagree then you are resigning millions of people to the landlords arms. One day you will see what I mean when someone you love cannot borrow despite them being perfectly sensible. You are blinded to this just now.
I reckon you just made that up.
Y'see, I'm told time and time again on here how hard it was to get a mortgage. You'd have to sit down with the bank manager and show your worth etc. Show your savings.
Now you turn around and state a 58 year old could just get a mortgage running into their 70's without issue.

Oh, I rather suspect you are quite wrong there, certainly in terms of average deposit size and availability of lending.
I note Which? is already calling for a marked loosening of lending standards. The politicians won't be far behind.

Your'e right of course but the point is the rules have gone so far that now millions of perfectly capable adults are now forced to rent.
I think this is unjust and a will be a massive issue quite soon as it emmerges huge groups of people are dis - barred.
I agree we don't want a return to the lax rules of beofre, but at the same time regulators are very out of touch (just like BEEB Directors were over Saville) and thier rules are detrimenting perfectly sensible capable adults who cannot tick every box on the lending rule sheet.0 -

Graham this is exactly the response time and again when people are presented with whats going on. It's the very same blind herd mentaility that allows scandal after scandal to occur because people do not recognise what is going on.
Tis the very same blind ignorance those WW1 Generals were guilty of - that you would now with hindsight be aghast at.
You aren't on the front line, I am and I'm telling you it's a tradegy that people are being forced to rent.0
