Hmrc job rejection

Somebody please cheer me up. I have just received a job rejection from HMRC following my interview in Bootle with them a few weeks ago. Obviously, I am feeling really depressed, especially as I am an ex-Civil Servant and have been trying to get back in for ages.

Has anybody else applied to HMRC? If so, did you get the same bleak, depressing news as I did?

I have checked my feedback on the Civil Service website for the HMRC rejection and discovered that I scored 12 (competency not strong enough on last question).

What is the pass mark for HMRC? Is it 15?

Yeah . . . like those who scored 11 or less in their interview result for the AO Civil Service posts!

Yeah, and I wish I had a job to go with it. Have virtually given up all hope of EVER getting a job on Merseyside.

Perhaps re-training or re-locating may be the answer although it does seem job situation is dire everywhere!

Although listening to the news form tory polititions yesterday you would think everybody in the country had got a job last month.

    Landmark results my A**E!

Yes, I have indeed thought about relocating away from the jobless, no-hope place that is Merseyside. However, there would then arise the problem of finding suitable accommodation, picking an area where the jobs are abundant (but as you so rightly indicated, everywhere is dire now). Catch 22.

You know - and I suspect I speak for many other poor unemployed people here too - I have never, ever, ever felt so down and disheartened as I do now. I have been unemployed now for nearly two years, and in that time I must have sent out HUNDREDS of applications. And out of all those applications, hardly any of these employers has even bothered to respond. The more I think about it, the more it angers me.

No hope. No hope at all for a jobless Merseysider like me.

I`m a current CS (not saying which Dept though) who lives & works on Merseyside and who next month chalks up 24 years service as an AO (with no promotions).

(Murderers do less time than that ...)
