painting a dark hallway

Good Morning,

I hope you are all well.

I have just had new heating installed. (woohoooo) and now need to go about doing all the re decorating etc.
I have a small long hallway from my living room door. No decent amount of Natural light comes in through the small sun set style window ( i hope you know what i mean ) at top of window. I am off work tomorrow and plan on setting about the hall way with filler and a paint brush.
Does anyone have suggestions of a good paint that will brighten up the room but does not cost the earth ?

Use light colours.

Put a large mirror on one side of the hall.

Thanks for the advice. Never thought of putting a mirror in the hall :-)
Planning on a warm magnolia. There is a hope to put the house on the market or to rent in the future

Dulux do a light and space range that gets good reviews. The mirror idea is also a good one.
