Thanks guys, I feel loads better now. You are right, we have to live as well, and we won't be going out anywhere now until June again, which is our wedding anniversary (it will be 2 years this year). I have re-done our figures for this month and we have some spare money somehow!! So now I am going to work out how much to pay each debt - should have another card clear by the end of the month :)

Just noticed this. I have had not a weekend but a WEEK like this. Its very hard to stick to your budget at holiday times. Family and friends expect you to enjoy yourself. Its very hard not to spend money wherever you go. I have had a weekend where we've been eating nice food, we've visited relatives, we've been to the cinema, we've been swimming, we had lunch at M&S at Bluewater. However, I believe that as long as you know that its a minor blip and you know that you are going on with your debt repayments then where's the harm? Its a lot easier to carry on if you have a bit of fun now and then as you dont get so fed up and then it makes you doubly determined to budget. Thats how I feel; I have spent far too much money but Im going to make up for it in the following months.

We've done the same, had a bit of a mad splurge that has set our DFD back by about 2 months. I think you have to sometimes, else you will resent the DFW way of life and give up. So long as you get back on the wagon again, no harm done.

Thanks again. I climbed straight back on the wagon today and paid off just over £130 of debt. I feel like I have redeemed myself now :)

Just wanted to say well done to your hubby on the new job and also the £130 you paid off your debt.

As for the falling off the wagon bit, I was expecting much worse! When I read you hadn't been out for so long & the fact that you were celebrating the new job my immediate thoughts were "Well why the hell shouldn't they have gone out and celebrated??" so, no telling off from me! ;)

You sound like you're being really measured in your Debt Free journey so good luck to you and enjoy your anniversary.

    Congrats on OH new job!!!

We've spent loads this week too....on DIY, not even fun stuff, although our bedroom looks lovely!!

You do need to celebrate good times and live a little...life would be extremely dull otherwise!

Main thing for us is that we've paid for everyhting in cash....not used any credit cards...last year it would have gone straight on the cards without a thought!

    Enjoy
