Confession time .... slipped

Well I am ashamed to say that we slipped up this weekend. We went out for a meal on Saturday night, to celebrate that hubby has got a new job. We haven't been out since June last year and didn't buy each other any pressies for birthday, xmas, valentines etc. so we felt that we could let ourselves have this one treat. The meal was lovely, and I had budgeted for it. However, the meal went over budget, as did the drinks in the pubs afterwards
£70 inc. babysitter
On top of that we went out for the day as a family yesterday and spent another £15 on petrol, ice creams & picnic.
Also went swimming this morning costing another £9
..... so now I am feeling a bit naughty and am determined that we have to climb back onto the wagon now.
I will make it back cutting down on shopping and ebaying .... honestly

It doesnt hurt once ina while if you do make sure that you pull in the purse strings after. Its soul destroying living on a strict budget if you do not include some forms of entertainment like nights out or a romantic evening ect so dont feel bad about it.

Although I'm very new to this DFW stuff - I think if you don't allow yourself and your DH any treats or rewards occasionally you will soon fall off the wagon.
You both obviously deserved a fabby weekend so don't feel bad - believe you have earnt it!
Now pcik youselves up and, as you say, climb back on the wagon.
PS.. congrats to your DH on the new job.0 -
I agree with the others...you deserve a little treat now and again and if you haven't been out in 10 months then the £70 can be worked out at £7/month which is under £2/week - hardly excessive!!
Congrats to hubby on his new job! :T :j :T Remember, don't beat yourself up over these little slips - I bet before your LBM you would have spent £70 with no worries a lot more often than once in 10 months!Celebrate how far you have come, and congratulate yourself on cutting back to where you are now.
Don't beat yourself up - you haven't fallen off the wagon - you are still obviously very much in control, so there is no problem!

P.S. The important thing is that you enjoyed it (and you did!:D) - its these things that keep us on the straight and narrow all the way to the end goal!!!
Don't feel bad about it - feel proud of yourself that you managed to successfully "stage manage" a treat for yourselves whilst still sticking with the plan and not deviating too far from your ultimate goal of DFW-ness. :T

Couldn't agree more Piglet, if I had the self discipline to get my "treats" to under £2 per week I would think how wonderfully I was doing!Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

I agree with the above, we still have to live life and enjoy.
As long as it is not something you start doing every week, then you do not have anything to feel bad about.
Congratulations for the new job for OH too. These things deserve to be celebrated.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Personally I think that letting your hair down and having a bit of a splurge every now and then is good for you. It reminds you of the freedom you'll have when you're debt free and don't have to think about the consequences as long as you can afford it.
Glad you had a good time, just don't do it again! lol :rotfl:Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

We all slip up at one point or another, and what I'd say is don't let the £70 you spent ruin the memory of a wonderful night out. It's happened, OK, it went over budget, but you need to celebrate your relationship whilst being DFWs too.Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Only kidding!0 -
And not only is it nice to have a treat every now and then - you appreciate it more than if you do it every week.0
