Vodafone payg dongle (K3770)- getting error 633 "in use" - not possible - help?

I have a Vodafone mobile broadband payg dongle (K3770)which I bought direct from Vodafone on line, last year. I have successfully used it before on my Samsung N150N notebook but not for several months. So before going away last weekend I successfully topped it up with a credit. It would not work where we were staying because the signal was too weak (grr).
So last night I took it to the pub with me and tried to use it there. This time I got a 633 "in use" error. I looked this up and found various suggestions that the Dongle was in conflict with a built in modem in the pc concerned. Not possible I was sitting in the pub with only my Samsung trying to connect.
So today I tried to register with the Vodafone forum to find a fix, and was prompted for the dongles Vodafone telephone number. Which it said was not recognised. I thenwent through the customer registration process expecting an email telling me my security code. That did not work either, no security code sent from Vodafone.
Not sure where to go next. Any suggestions?

I cannot get the Vodafone eforum to accept a registration from me. This seems to be because it wants me to register details of my Vodafone handset phone and I do not have one. I only have a Vodafone broadband mobile dongle for my notebook.
However having managed to register a query with Custome support, I was told it could not be processed until I registered the number of my Vodafone PAYG handset.
I cannot because I do not have one. It is just a dongle for mobile broadband. The Vodafone reference number for my query was #10256280 -

Even your Mobile Broadband SIM will have a telephone number assigned.
If you have an unlocked mobile telephone, place the SIM within and dial mobile phone and dial *#100# Send0 -

Hi usignuolo,
Thanks for coming back to me.
Unfortunately, I've been unable to trace your details from that reference.
As such, could you email me with the relevant details via the link in our profile here?
All you need to do is copy and paste the link into your web browser and it will take you to the Contact us form on our website.
To ensure that it reaches us could you also quote the code WRT135 - MSE in the subject line and once our automated reply arrives update the thread with your email reference number and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?
Thanks,
Lee

Hi
I've a similar issue with my dongle.
Can't login to website to top up (but have in past).
Forgot password or register process not working for me so unable to log in to top up.
Logged ticket #11000805 to be told the number I provided was not a Vodafone one, yet here I am browsing the web quite happily using the dongle not knowing when I am going to run out of data.
Any advice how I might check my data balance and top up much appreciated.0 -

As you've provided your email reference number I'll get this looked into further and get back to you as soon as possible.
Kind regards,
