Tablets - again

So I'm quiet tech savy, but I am confused with tablets.
I'm looking for one to replace the trusty pen and paper in the office, but also at home for movies, internet etc.
I've got a S2 samsung and I like it, but I only want to spend £200 at most, so a Tab2 is out.
I like the Moterola Xoom2.
I need a 10.1 inch screen, as its easier to see for me with out glasses etc, and type on.
I was waiting for the MS Surface, however its way to expensive for its self.
Can anyone advise what options I can look at?

I started with a 10" tablet, but found (as with an iPad) that it's just as inconvenient to lug around as a laptop. So I switched to a 7" tablet, which (in Android's standard 16:9 format) is roughly the size of a Penguin paperback, (which mens' jackets seem to be tailored to be able to slip into a pocket.) So, I'd not commend a 10" tablet personally - but it's down to personal choice. If you're on a restricted budget, then my advice is (1) Research what's available , then (2) import it from a Chinese retailer and (3) use "China Mail" for delivery which is dirt-cheap, but annoyingly slow. I provided a list of Chinese online retailers https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4230415
Most seem to offer a range of 10" units. At least you'll be familair with what's available direct from China, and the specs and prices of what's on offer there.0 -
Where did you find Xoom2 10.1 at £200??
But I doubt if you can replace pen and paper
Refurb Asus TF101. It is last gen technology, but for your budget, it is good to consider.

Lenovo K1. Good to consider for its price. Only 1 left!!

Personally would go for TF101.0 -
How about this one: http://zzkko.com/electronics/android-tablet-pcs/cube-u30gt-pea-dual-core.html#
Pretty good spec, it's not just got a 10" screen, but a rather superior IPS screen (which lets you look at it from pretty much ANY angle without distortion) "ZZKKO" seems to be a specific "Pile 'em high and sell 'em cheap" retailer, who buys-in large stocks of a VERY limited range of goods (I think they have three products on offer currently) knocks the price down to a minimum, and unloads them as quickly as possible. £124 (delivered) seems a pretty good price for the spec' on offer. Cube is a fairly well-known brand in China, even if it's not exactly famous here. ZZKKO's offer remains in force until late on 22nd October. It'll still be available from other retailers, but at a somewhat higher price.
I've also just stumbled upon a new (to me) retailer http://www.ebellking.com/blog/2012/08/cube-u30gt-pea-tablet-review/
who takes the trouble to educate their prospective buyers: that's quite an objective review of the Cube tablet. Another retailer I found carries a large number of 10" tablets, including a couple that come close to the top of your budget at £200 - for which you get a tablet with an Apple-style"Retina" screen.http://www.spemall.com/blog/?p=16560 -
Don't give up on pen and paper - as a dedicated technophile myself, I still find pen and paper easier and quicker for some/many jobs
If you want a tablet you will actually carry around, totally agree with the 7" form-factor. I have the Nexus 7, even with a neoprene sleeve it slips into a jacket pocket and doesn't even badly offend the line of the cut, so it goes around with me, so I use it. Any bigger, I would need a bag, so it becomes just another thing I have to carry, so its usefulness drops right away, and it would be more of a dumb laptop.
One other device to consider - you like the Samsung phone, but the S2 is an older device now - how about combining both and getting a Galaxy Note 2, released recently? 5.5" tablet and phone in one, with a stylus pen, quad-core doodah, like a bigger brother to the S2. Sell the S2, and use the £200 toawrds it maybe? If you get it direct from T-Mobile it will even be LTE (4G) ready straight out the box. Just an option!0
