Is it that sign on line 24 ends then anyway? If so, they're having a double hit. SOL24 going back to standard plus the price increase on standard resulting in the large rise. There will almost certainly be a cheaper tariff available if they check.0

I'm not nPower, but I think you'll find that nPower said they will increase the price of gas by an average of 8.8% and electricity by 9.1% from 26 November
That means not everyone will be affected by the same amount.
Also, the percentage annual bill change on that notice only applies to an average user (as defined by Ofgem) - so unless your "friend" happens to be an average user, they won't necessarily incur this percentage increase.0 -
Same scenario with SSE - Total Heating Total Control went up 17% even though SSE announced an average 9% increase. This means power companies are deceiving consumers when advertising their increases. They could literally state any number plucked from the air as the increase because it bears no resemblance to the actual increases they impose. How many consumers have been deceived into thinking their bills will go up "the advertised amount" but in reality the increase is much more - lets hear from them.
Best thing that could happen out of the top 6 power companies is for 5 of them to increase their charges and the sixth to either say no increase or a small reduction and then think of the thousands of new customers that company would suddenly get. Price war ensues??0 -
npower increase in gas price is even worse than previous quoted numbers if you look at the detail
On the Bill Saver tariff, unit price is increasing from 2.863p to 3.565p per unit - that's a 24.5% increase on the actual price of the gas. Small reduction on standing charge and then they quote Annual bill change of 7.0% on the letter.
They have manipulated the figures so that it doesn't look as bad for their so-called "typical" annual usage.0
