My husdand as just applyed for this account on-line at the end of application it said they would give him an answer within seven days but listed all the current accounts thay offer. We think he will only get the basic account if any, but if he is offer the basic account will he be able to transfer money on-line from this account to my Nationwide flex account.

basic account you can do almost everything except use it for offline transactions or have or apply for an overdraft.

Yes he will be able to do online transfers to your nationwide flex account.

He will have all the features similar to a full account, except that he will never get an overdraft on this account. His visa debit card will only allow him to withdraw cash from a Lloyds TSB, Bank of Scotland, and Halifax cash machine and Post Office branch and no where else.
