WARNING - EDF Energy Blue+Promise 2014

We had EDF Fixed Saver V2 and in August they wrote to us to confirm the end of this tariff and invited us to sign up for their Blue+Promise 2014 tariff which we did as all the media reports suggested this was one of the best deals. We did it online and got an email confirmation and it said we would hear more from them soon after 1st October when the tariff would commence. As we heard nothing I called them yesterday and they had not put us on this tariff and said they had no record of it! I was told to email them and forward them my email and it would all be sorted out but how many other people have signed up on line and it has not been actioned? It is lucky I keep everything as if I had not kept my email or a copy of it I would have been stuck. As it is I got an automated reply saying they would reply within 10 days but I have raised this as a complaint and would expect a quicker response from EDF!

I don't know how many people might not have got what they requested, but probably not many, and if so, they would probably have checked they got what they requested (e.g. online or on a bill) before disposing of any confirmation.
What exactly have you raised as a complaint now?
That you got an automated reply? :huh:0 -

My point is that many people don't actually check their bills and may not realise they had not received the offer they had signed up to. I think it is pretty poor that a company like EDF is sending out confirmation emails but not actually allocating the tariff to the account.
I think you probably realise that the complaint raised was about them sending me the email but not signing me up , not about the automated reply. Your sarcasm is not really necessary as I am trying to help people and advise them to check carefully that they get what they signed up for. I signed up for this in August but it wasn't due to start until 1st Oct so it is easily overlooked and people may assume they are getting the tariff they signed up for. The operator at EDF seemed quite concerned and was worried that other people may be in this position and said he would raise it as a complaint. I did not ask him to.0 -

You won't hear anymore about this 'complaint' if you didn't raise it.0 -
Just out of interest were you prepared for the price increase? We were paying 8.53p per kwh on the Fixed Saver and this will go up to 13p with the new deal. I knew it was going to go up as we havent had any price increases for 2 years - but it was still a shock!
Anyway thanks for the tip, will check ours has gone through.0
