lost special delivery item

I sent an urgent item to a family member yesterday using special delivery- and there is no sign of it. The track and trace merely tells me :
Special Delivery™ Next Day items are first tracked when they have reached our mail centre. This may be late in the evening on the day the item was sent.
Information on your item is not yet available online
I'm trying to get hold of someone at the moment by phone- but if any PO worker has access to the specialised trace can they see if anything shows up for me if I pm the tracking number?
