EDF switch process

I just applied to switch to EDF on Saturday. I've got the confirmation that my application has been received and estimate monthly charge 70 quid. I have not received any documents by post yet nor agreed on the date they will collect the money (maybe I picked the date online while filling in my application but I am not sure now). I don't even know the starting date.

But the EDF direct debit has already appeared on my bank account. Is it normal to have things done in this order?

Sorry for possibly silly question, but it's first time I'm switching the energy supplier, so I'm cautious :p

    Yes, that's fine.

You are fully protected via your bank by the the terms of the Direct Debit Guarantee.

EDF will write to you (after your cooling off period expires) informing you of the amount they will collect and when (giving at least 10 working days notice)
  • Cool. Thanks :)
