insuring the excess on car / house etc policies

trying to find out more about this .... as know when doing all the research into renewing policies that there's some very big premium savings .. when you go for higher excesses .
I'd heard about then "insuring the excess" .... i've found www.insuremyexcess.co.uk which looks interesting , just wondered if there were other companies and whether anyone had any further knowledge , information or experience on this .
An extended car warranty i'm looking at is £570 a year with £0 excess .. but £331 with £250 excess !! ........ £240 cheaper !!

This was mentioned a few times recently, particularly in relation to young drivers.
One thing to watch out for is warranty claims which don't exceed the excess. Some of these excess insurers require the total claim value to be above the excess.
For example if you have a warranty claim for £300 and pay a £250 excess then you recover £250 from the excess insurers. However if you have a warranty claim for £200 - the warranty pays nothing and the excess insurers pay nothing.0
