Should they honour quote?

We visited our local Thomson on Saturday to get prices for 2013 holidays. After 2 hours we decided to look at Florida as there are so many deals at the moment, we were given a verbal price of what it might cost but as we were in a rush, the advisor told us that she could email us the quotes to my email address.
Later that afternoon, we received the quote and was quite surprised as the figure quoted within the email was £800 less than the figure mentioned a few hours earlier. We immediately rang the shop and said we wanted to book the holiday at the price quoted within the email, a couple of quiet moments later, the advisor said she needed to speak to her manager and then she came back and said that there had been a mistake in sending the quote and that when the system had processed the quote and sent it via email it had knocked off the ticket cost at £800.
We said that it was not our fault, it was theirs but surely they must honour what was quoted, especially as the quotation said it included the ticket and dining plan that they are offering.
The manager does not seem to want to talk to us, just gets the advisors to pass on messages, but she will not honour the quote.
I have tried to contact head office, but apparently they have no complaints department, you have to speak to the shop's manager, if only she would speak to me!!
What do people think, should I persue this?
Thanks

I think you'll find they're not obliged to honour the quote.
Would be different if you'd actually purchased it at the price given, but nothing stopping them saying sorry, you've missed them at that price.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I see absolutely no reason to pursue this at all. A mistake was made which is disappointing for you but I see no way it could be legally binding. Perhaps you should use a TA with better trained staff?0

Prices change within minutes so even if it had been correct at that time you would still have to pay the price at time of booking, whether its gone up or gone down. You would only have a real complaint if you'd booked it and they were then asking you for more money. I'd go to the travel agent round the corner from that thomsons and ask them for their best price.0

Thanks everyone.
I will certainly think again before using the actual shop to buy a holiday, online buyng all the way for me now!!0 -
Don't be put off not all TA's are bad, if you like the internet and doing it yourself, why don't you get the info off the net and take it to a shop and see if they'll match it or beat it.0

Seems rather petty to me... A mistake was made on a quote and you were corrected about it "minutes" later - why do you feel so aggrieved...0 -
No ones allowed to make a mistake in greedy Britain now.0

I have these (click here), they seem to work just fine for me.0

Yeah I booked my first teletext holiday at the weekend & was well pleased with myself. Thomson quoted double that figure & TC & Co-op tripled in price. They're the same flights on the same plane, same time, same hotel ....0
