Need some help with Skype

When talking with my parents over Skype, they can hear me clearly, but I can only hear noise and broken sentences. Any idea what is the problem? Thanks.

Have they run the wizard within Skype to set up their microphone (and webcam if they have one)?
What speed internet connection do they have?
What/who else is using their network at the same time?
Do they have the same problem talking to others?How do I add a signature?0
