Can I legally force an ex to sell the her half of the house to me

My ex girlfriend and I purchased a house together in 2007, we split up in 2010. Since then we have both moved into other properties (she has bought a house and I live in a rented flat in London. We are currently both paying 50% of the mortgage on the old house which is on the market for sale and I am also paying all the CTax and utility bills. I really want to keep the house as I have spent a lot of money & time on the house and like it. She hates the house but doesn't want me to have it. I have offered to buy her out but she is unwilling to sell her half to me, even though I am willing to give her equivalent to the full asking price. She wants to sell to a third party (which will probably be at a lower amount) rather than sell to me. Is there any legal action or precedent that I can use to force her to sell to me. A friend has offered to buy the house and then sell it back to me but that just seems like a ridiculous waste of money.
Help much appreciated.

i would get someone to buy it and sell it back to you, it is a bit of a waste but how cheap do you think she would sell it to a 3rd party, and imagine how p****d off she would be when she finds out you are living there , i would go for it,
offer at least 10% under0 -
Get her to pay half of ALL the bills, she will soon change her mind.0

Welcome!
You cannot force her, but you can put a little pressure on. Stop paying all the council tax and bills, send her a backdated invoice for her half. Tell her you won't sell to a third party so she will have to keep paying two mortgages indefinitely, and you are moving back into your house at the end of your rental contract whilst she thinks about her position. Hmm wonder what she told her new mortgage lender about her existing mortgage........"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0

Be aware properties that remain empty and unfurnished for more than six months are entitled to a discount of up to 50% on the applicable council tax bill.0
