Advice on suitable extractor fan.

Hello,
I am on the lookout for a bathroom extractor fan that has a few specific functions and would be grateful for any advice on choosing the correct one.
I am looking for a fan that is not controlled by the light switch - rather I need it to come on automatically with a humidity sensor instead.
I also need a timed override switch - i.e. the facility to force the fan to turn on for a fixed period even if it is not within the humidity range to turn the fan on automatically.
To sum up - I want a fan that only comes on if it gets to humid in their and turns off when it is back to a normal level but gives you the facility to force it to run for say 10 minutes to get rid of any odours.
Thanks very much.

Look at the Airflow Icon range, with the humidity plugin. I have one set up the way you describe (on whilst the room is humid, and can be forced on for a preset time via pull cord) - when wiring it in, just don't wire in the switched live and it won't come on with the lights for the timed period.0

i would steer clear of icon as the shutters have a habit of jamming and they are a PITA to fit as the cut out hole is pretty close to the size of the fan so places to fix it to the wall are limited.....
there are other fans that will do what you want - check out the ventilation section on this website for more ideas

Hi
Have a look at the vent-axia site and you will find what you are looking for. I telephoned and spoke with support staff to check what was suitable. We have now replaced existing fans in a shower-room then utility room with what you are describing because we were so impressed.0 -
Hi there,
I never did get round to finding the correct extractor fan.
I found this company that does lots of designs (very reasonable too), but it does seem that you cannot get both a humidistat and a pullcord together.

This particular model looks ideal but worries me as there appears to be no pullcord in the picture.

Toerag33 - I don't suppose you could send me a link for the thing I am after could you please? Their website has not got a particularly good search function.
Do you think I should just forget trying to be so specific about what I am after and just get a normal fan that comes on with a timer once the light is switched on but has a humidistat overrride?0 -
I would suggest that you work out what size fan you need before you buy one that may not do the job
Beloww shows how to work it out
