New SKY Router : Identifying ...

Just installed my new Sky router and everything is fine Ipad/Ipod/Iphone/Playbook etc etc

Only thing is every time I boot up my laptop I get the yellow triangle and Identifying .... for ages ... sometimes it sorts itself, sometimes I need to reboot laptop or router. Is there a quick and obvious fix?

First of all try updating the laptop wifi drivers.

If that gives no joy disable IPv6 or manually set the IP address, Gateway and DNS servers in the adapter properties.

What version of Windows is it? I had an infuriating time with a Windows Vista PC and our Sky router. Posted a thread about it on another forum:

In the end, after months and trying all sorts, I changed the Channel the router was broadcasting on from 'Auto Scan' to a fixed number (6, although I'm not sure the exact channel matters). It worked. I've no idea why, but it did.

Comically, a couple of years later we had to reformat and reinstall everything on that PC and then we had the same "Identifying..." problem again. I'd forgotten about the first time it happened and in googling for answers found my thread above.
