Sale of house proceeds

Hi all.
We are hopefully completing our house sale in the next few months. and at the time of writing have not found somewhere to buy. We will have to rent somewhere whilst we look but it also means there will be a sizeable chunk of cash sitting around in the mean time.
It would be great to make something on it but a) we can't afford to risk loosing much and b) will need fairly quick (like 30 days access) to it when we do find somewhere to buy.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what would be the safest place for it?
I had thought about putting some money into peer to peer lending but I doubt we'd see any real return as its we would hope to only be renting for four to six months at most.
Many thanks.

Peer to peer is the last place you should be looking. Instant access will be best, and Isas if you dont' have any to save tax. Keep accts to 85K or less single, 170K joint.0
