Loosing my benefits

Hope this isn't too complicated
I've been on incapacity and income support since 2006. I'm 59 yrs old and live in West Wales. I use to claim DLA but took the decision myself to come off it as my health improved.
During this period my wife has been a registered foster carer which the income does not affect my benefits.
She now wants to stop however, the moment she earns more that £20 pw it will affect my benefits.
As there's little work here we're thinking of letting off part of the home and have been told we could consider opening it as a business in my wifes name and drawing off expenses only without taking a wage. Doing this would then not affect my benefits.
Can anyone advise about this plse?
Thanks

My understanding is that legitimate expenses would not count.
For example, food for tenants, Or that portion of the heating bill.
However, if you tried to clam the entire heating bill as expenses,
Then the part over and above that portion is income for benefits purposes.0
