Advice needed re switching and Warm Home Discount
I am currently with British Gas for both electricity and gas on their Online Saver 5 tariff which is valid until 30 April 2013. It is not a fixed price tariff but is 4% lower than their standard tariff. Given that BG are putting their prices up I took MSE's recommendation to shop around for a fixed price deal, the cheapest being EDF Blue Plus Price Promise May 2014 saving £41 per year. I currently qualify for a £130 per year rebate from BG as I fall under the Warm Home Discount "broader group" but looking at EDF's criteria I do not qualify for their equivalent.
My question is whether I should remain with BG due to the rebate or switch because then at least I'll know my unit prices won't go up until 2014? On the surface I would think I should stick to BG but am I looking at this too simply? Any advice would be greatly appreciated folks!
