i have around 5K to spend on house improvements
needs re-wiring (quoted 1.5k)
3 internal doors need replacing and 1 new one fitted inc new doorframe
damp proof course
dry wall insualtion(house built early 1900's no cavity = high heating bills
will only insulate the wall which are facing the outside(if u know what i mean)
the plaster seems ok
will i have any change left?

check with your council about the cavity insulation. Many are doing this at below cost (in order to meet energy efficiency guidelines). My local council (croydon) is doing it for circa £100ish i believe0

£1.5k Sounds very cheap- does this price include certification?
Make sure it's not a Chint consumer unit, buy 2 and get a free fire extinguisher
You should use a competent person for the work, links below

My opinion, REALLY craaaaaaap . When my local wholesaler got them in (for very budget market) he didn't want to show me as they were too naff. He only had them as head offfice insisted.
Some poeple swear by them some at them:D
As far as electrics goes you get what you pay for.
The only person that gets a rewire within £200 of that figure is one of my regular clients that gives me about 5-6 rewires a year, plus other stuff.baldly going on...0 -
