Benefits . . . or not

A friend has under the £16,000 savings limit and lives in rented flat and has recently been successfully claiming benefits as unfit to work through long term illness. They are shortly to move to a flat which will either be gifted to them or part owned with parents. Will this affect entitlement to benefits - ie counted towards savings?

No, the value of the property you live in is not viewed as part of your savings.0 -
you have to laugh the daily fail article tells us that last year £100 million was spent detecting fraud and they recovered £215 BILLION,odd that as the total bill inc pensions is less than that0

I suppose us taxpayers have to be grateful that if they own the property they wont be claiming housing benefit.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I did have debilitating illnesses before I retired
Mulit joint arthritis
Pernicious aenemia
Brittile Bone disease
High blood pressure,
Still managed to stay at my last job for 25 years till last year,
So I feel entitled to an opinion.
And even now, apart from 60% state pension I get no benefits.
Anyway, Im not going to get into a protracted discussion about it.
I;m off.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Investigators have had those powers for some years over what the articles states, DWP get there hands tied in using them by policy.
It doesn't seem to mention the cost that sky charge for providing the information though does it. £25 quid for the info and then £125 for a statement so that it can be used at court. You can see why it wasn't and isn't always used to its best ability.0 -
