  • What a cheek- sending out a random bill for a made-up sum dressed up in legalese to make you panic.

    Make an appointment at your local CAB to discuss this. Summarise what has happened in chronological order, in bullet points of factual statements with exact dates. Collate all the relevant paperwork.

    You've been stuck in the middle of two slack LLs who haven't done anything properly- and you shouldn't be charged for anything.

    Thank you both. I feel much more confident.

    I think I will now wait and see if they go to the next stage of Court and if so, I will get together all my witness statements of the house, cheque details for the deposit.

    I'm so grateful for all of your help guys.

    You might send a letter to the solicitor repudiating any alleged damage and requesting copies of the inventory/photographs.

    At the same time ask for their proposals for the return of the deposit paid and the penalties under the Localism Act.
