Hi,
I am in the middle of switching from Npower to Scottish Power and have received the welcome email and welcome letter and it said all was in hand, however I am now worried that due to the Scottish Power increase that it’s going to impact our deal?
Have we managed to get the lower rate or are we now locked in at the higher one?
We have not fully changed over however I am sure it’s imminent!

I also am in the same position as you, and am left wondering exactly which rate I will get. I shall be VERY annoyed if I have to pay the increase. Lets hope we get an answer. When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0

You will get the tariff you applied for
If you didn't apply for a fixed tariff, and the tariff you applied for is affected by the recent price rise announcement, then you will pay the new increased price from the effective date.0 -

We applied for the fixed tariff so looks like we will be ok!0 -
Yep! great news indeed, I have another query now, I always paid by monthly variable DIRECT DEBIT with British gas, and gave my monthly usage every month, is this possible with S.P.? I sincerely hope soWhen man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.0

Thats what I used to do with British Gas and prefer it, currently in the last stage of switching to SP but I don't think it will be an option, basically I think we will have to pay a 12th of our annual consumption per month.
SP website did mention variable DD and readings but didn't give any option when signing up.
Look on the bright side, as we are switching just coming into winter and high usage, and your monthly payment should be an average then they will end up 'lending' you gas (money) as your account will soon get in debit. Then in the spring/summer when your overpaying on average they will get their money back. Usually you end up giving the energy an interest free loan on these payment schemes.0 -
If they have set your switch date and they announce a price increase that is materially detrimental to you, since you are a customer if no objection to the switch is raised, they have to give you the same ability to switch away as a settled customer. This differs slightly as today's date has to advance past your switch date and a there has to be an 11 day gap in registrations in elec (not sure on gas) but this shouldn't be an issue given cooling off periods.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0

I think BG are the only supplier to do a monthly variable DD, others do a quarterly VDD. anyone know any different ??
If you signed up to the fixed tariff you won't be affected by the price changes0 -
Hi If you applied for a fixed deal already then its fixed at the quoted price and not subject to the price increase. We don't offer variable monthly Direct Debit, only variable quarterly Direct Debit and this is not available with our offer tariffs.
