Travel insurance miselling

I was robbed whilst on holiday and my smart phone was stolen. I have the police report. Insurance and Go say mobile phones is not covered as per para 15.

I have complained to them, because everyone has a mobile phone and most people take them on holiday. If mobile phones are not covered they should say so whilst taking it out, not in the depth of their policy wording.

I would not have taken this insurance out if I had know that my Smart phone was not covered.

Any comments?

You should read all the terms and conditions before taking any insurance out.

Have you read them now and what does para 15 actually say.

Not everyone has a mobile phone.

It is up to you to check to see if specific items are covered by the policy that you are buying.

This is a case of misbuying rather than misselling.
  • Insure&go are not an advised sale and therefore you cannot be "miss sold it"

Which level of cover did you buy? Looking at the Budget and standard versions it is in their Key Facts documents that mobiles (glasses and sunglasses) are a significant exclusion and not buried in the depths of their policybook

A lot of travel policies do not cover items which may be covered on your household policy under personal possessions. These ones tend to be the cheaper ones as they are knocking things off.

Who sold the policy to you?
Did you state that you wanted your mobile phone covered?

Or as is more likely, did you do your own research and bought without advice therefore making not possible to be mis-sold as no-one sold it to you. i.e. you misbought.
