So OP was burgled police secured the property via a locksmith and OP doesn't want to pay.

So if this went to the high court and the OP won and precedent set no locksmith would ever come out again at the request of the police.

I think the locksmith should remove his lock instead :)

Was the alternative leaving the property completely open??

If so, then personally I would have paid then claimed off my insurance.

You can't expect the police to stand at your door for hours until you got home!!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I presume you've not read the OPs second post:

The work was fitting a padlock to my flat following a burglary, even though the external door was undamaged.

Clearly the OP feels the work was unnecessary.

Yes posted earlier yesterday and the Newbie member maybe thought he\she had posted it in the wrong section due to no response.
There is no need to make a issue of it.

However this thread (that we're talking in now) is the 3rd thread.

    First was: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4231413

Having multiple threads on the same issue can cause confusion/problems. If not for the OP themselves then for the posters who reply.

However, I can understand the OP's confusion. There doesn't seem to be a board that "fits" this problem.
